geography  is divided into two(2) main branches which are human geography and  physical geography. human geography covers topics related to human race while physical geography is highly a scientific approach of studying the natural characteristics of the earth. physical geography can affect the culture in many ways. first, physical characteristics of an area can affect how people living within that area produce language. for instance, the more  mountainous the place is, the  more it is hard for people in one place to communicate to others who are in the other  areas.  this will result for the development of each group  a unique language. second  influence  of geography to one's culture is in a form of clothing. ideally, people will wear set of clothes depending on the  climate in their place.  third is  on the aspect of  economy. people living near water area  can maximize the opportunity of farming and  trading as part of their economic life while those places with a rich stock of oil can also use their resources for economic development.  if we will go back to history,  mesopotamia served as the  cradle of civilization due to many advantageous aspects  of its physical geography.   the existence of rivers in mesopotamia (now iraq)  helped people to change their economic activities from hunting gathering to farming.    these are j\ust some  aspects on how geography can affect culture.  politics, religion and even norms can  also be considered.
